Linha 2 Extension

Location:  Sao Paulo, Brazil

In 2009, Metro of Sao Paulo decdied to implement a monorail solution for the extension of Linha 2 Verde, between Vila Prudente and Hospital Cidade Tiradentes.  The 24 km long line has 17 stations, two maintenance facilities and numerous switches to allow for the operation of the trains.  There is a 2.3 km first phase under construction that covers to stations, and one maintenance facility.  Once this section started construction, Metro held a Design-Build competition for the remainder of the project, 11 km with eight additional stations leading to Station Sao Mateus and an 11.6 km extension to Cidade Tiradents.  The winner of this Design-Build competition was a Consortium formed by Civil Constructors; Queiroz Galvao, OAS and the train provider, Bombardier Transportation.  The name of this Consortuim is Consorcio Expresso Monotrilho Leste, CEML.

Location: Las Vegas, NV

The project consists of a 66-acre planned community, with 18 million-square-foot first phase calling for a 4,000-room hotel and casino, three 400-room boutique hotels, 1,650 luxury condo-hotel units, and 550,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space. Innova technologies Inc. provided services to Doppelmayr Transit Systems, supporting their bid for on the people mover project providing foundation design services for a planned People Mover structure linking many of the structures in the project.

Bellagio-Monte Carlo People Mover

Location: Las Vegas, NV

Schwager Davis Inc. Project consisted on the rehabilitation of an existing people mover structure re-routed to accommodate a new tower at Bellagio. Innova provided design services to provide working platforms and structural design services to accommodate the new structure within the new maintenance facility at the Bellagio end of the project.

Primadonna – Whiskey Pete’s People Mover

Cable propelled, turnkey transportation project between the Primadonna Hotel and Casino, 45 minutes southwest of Las Vegas. Cast in Place construction. Structure spans over I-15 at the California-Nevada border.

One of our Staff members provided structural engineering, construction support and structural inspection services for this people mover project.

Mirage – Treasure Island People Mover

Cable propelled, turnkey transportation project between the Mirage Hotel and Casino and Treasure Island Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Precast post-tensioned trough beams with cast in place closure pours. The elevated structure supports a stylish colonial style train.

One of our Staff members provided structural engineering, construction support and structural inspection services for this people mover project.

MGM – Bally’s Monorail

Self-propelled, turnkey transportation project between the MGM Grand and the Bally’s Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada. A turnkey 25 million dollars, privately funded transportation project linking two existing hotels. Precast post-tensioned monorail beams with cast in place closure pours. The project consisted on the retrofit of existing trains and the engineering and construction of 4500 ft double guideway structure, two stations and a maintenance facility. The stations and mainline structures have been incorporated in to the Las Vegas Monorail Project.

One of our staff members was the Lead Structural Project Manager, Engineer of Record. Our Principal also provided support services during construction, leading to the successful commissioning of the project in 18 from Notice to Proceed.

Los Angeles to Pasadena Light Rail Project

The 13.7-mile project with 13 stations in constructed on the former Santa Fe right of way from downtown Los Angeles to Sierra Madre Villa, East Pasadena.

One of Staff members provided civil, structural and project management engineering services to Carter and Burgess, INC and Booz Allen & Hamilton, Inc. during the preparation of the two bid packages the Chinatown Structures and the Arroyo Seco Design /Build contracts.

Clarian Health People Mover

Self propelled turnkey transportation project between three major hospitals in Indianapolis, Indiana. Precast post-tensioned trough beams with cast in place closure pours.

Two of our staff members provided structural engineering services to Schwager Davis, Inc., San Jose, California. They provided alignment and structural design services for 8,000 ft long guideway between three hospitals in Indianapolis, Indiana. They developed structural software to analyze structure using visual basic programming to obtain coordinates based on alignment information. Services included precast beam shop drawing verification. Conducted field visits to address Contractor and precaster questions.

Las Vegas Monorail Project

This project called for the design and construction of a 4.5- mile long urban transit system in Las Vegas. The project required five new stations, the upgrading of two existing stations and a new operations and maintenance facility. The transit system is scheduled to commence service in early 2004. The guideway beams, precast and post-tensioned, were erected over cast-in-place columns. In-place closure pours provide stability to the slender monorail beams. There are several types of columns, with innovative features to accommodate specific site conditions and the contractor’s chosen equipment. One of our staff members acted as lead engineer for the elevated guideway structures design team and provided support services during construction. Other staff members provided structural engineering design, including the modeling of the structures, using state-of-the-art RM2000 structural software and developed custom software to prepare structural models input geometry, survey data tables, precast beam shop drawings, and emergency walkway shop drawings.
